The IIT Campus Sustainability Forum on Water Solutions was this past Friday from 12-1:20. The room wasn’t packed, but part of that was that some IIT students have class until 12:40. The featured speakers were Scott Beslow, an IIT graduate student in Environmental Engineering, and Dr. Tim Loftus, Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning. According to the slides presented, upcoming Campus Sustainability Forums include Dec. 2: Commitment Status, January: Climate Action, February: Sustainable Food, March: Sustainable Energy, and April 22nd: Earth Day and Action Plans. The MC also congratulated IIT’s new student group, Gangreen, on existing and expressed hope that they would make the most of an event called Recyclemania.

Ever heard the term sausagefest? If not, I’m sure a website like urbandictionary.com can give you an accurate description. The fraternity Phi Kappa Sigma (more commonly known as the Skulls), took the term literally on Saturday, creating an event full of… nothing short of a bunch of sausages!
From noon to 3pm this past Saturday, everyone was invited to stop by for hot dogs, hot links, polish sausages, italian sausages and bratwurst. They requested a dollar donation per dog to support the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. Along with some great food, there was live bands the entire time, including those from other fraternities. While I was there, I saw Clay Houser and Erik Harpstead from Delta Tau Delta fraternity playing for everyone at the event.

Think of two meeting rooms at the McCormick Convention Center at the Hyatt
Regency merged together to make one big open space with round tables, good food, and over eighty entrepreneurs, scientists, businessmen, and professors. Think of dim lights, tart salsa, and plenty of ideas. If you’ve got that picture in your head, you have a snapshot of the Kern Innovation and Entrepreneurship Academy (KIEA) reception that took place at this year’s Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization National Conference.

It was the 13th of October when music rocked the Illinois Institute Of Technology. The occasion was Bhangra Night, which got an overwhelming response from students belonging to different communities all across the world. The party was held at the BOG, where students came in their cultural dress code. The event started at 10pm and lasted untill 1am, with students continuously dancing to punjabi musical tracks.

Good libraries are part and parcel of a good academic environment. Besides providing the students with textbooks and a peaceful environment, they can help with the development of a positive attitude. The advents of modern technologies have made the life of a student very easy, but the library still plays a major role in the academic life of any student. It can also be said that libraries aid in the upbringing of bright minds. Paul V. Galvin Library is doing this job for IIT students.
