Dodgers win the 2025 World Series

A thrilling season performance winning 93 games, the Los Angeles Dodgers made their way into the 2025 World Series and taking home a back-to-back championship victory after a seven game championship matchup with the Toronto Blue Jays. After facing fierce competition against the Brewers from Milwaukee in the National League Championship Series, taking a win of 4-0 against Milwaukee, the Dodgers faced off against their American League East equivalent at the Rogers Centre in Toronto and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles for full seven game matchup which led to two nine-plus inning games. Feeling confident after their post-season wins against the Brewers, Phillies, and Reds, the Dodgers were back on the championship field, a year after they won against the Yankees.

Game one came and went with nine innings of pure art from both sides, with the Blue Jays taking home the first win of the championship, a score of 11-4. This game was an intense flurry of emotion as the two teams ramped up their performance on the field, with Dodgers very own Ohtani making a home run in the seventh inning. The Blue Jays however, had a major upper hand after the sixth inning where they made the majority of their 11 points, with Barger, Varsho, and Kirk making home runs during that time, climbing the Blue Jays score in a single inning by 11 points.

Game two was an easy win for the Dodgers who scored during innings one, seven, and eight. A win of 5-1 against the Blue Jays, this was an embarrassing by the Blue Jays who lost steam during the game on their home turf. Smith and Muncy scored homers during the seventh inning of the game, being the only players in the whole game to score a home run. Springer scored a point for the Blue Jays after Kirk sacrificed with a fly ball to the center.

Game three was the most thrilling and tiring game of the entire post-season schedule. The Dodgers ended up taking the win on their home turf at Dodger Stadium, with a score of 6-5. However, that win did not come for free as the game went on for 18 innings, which was only last achieved in 2018 by the Dodgers going against the Red Sox in a post-season game. This 18-inning game lasted 6 hours and 40 minutes with Freeman making the winning homer during the 18th inning. Ohtani and Hernandez scored homers as well during the relatively early parts of this game. Kirk was the only player for the Blue Jays to score a home run during this game.

Game four was a depressing and unfortunate loss for the Dodgers after their 18-inning win the day before. Many on social media attributed this performance to tiredness and celebration hangovers. This game saw Guerrero making the only home run for game, scoring for the Blue Jays. The final score for this game ended up at 6-2 with a Blue Jays win on the Dodgers home turf with the majority of points being scored in the seventh inning.

Game five was the game many thought it would end at, but the Blue Jays and Dodgers were both putting up quite the fight against each other. However, even so, doubt swept up the Dodgers and their fans as they took their third loss in the series, the second in the home turf. A final score of 6-1 left many fans disappointed and ready to accept defeat as it was now a game for best of three. The Blue Jays very own Schneider and Guerrero homing right away in the first inning, Hernandez homing in the second inning for the Dodgers.

Game six was held back at home for the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre in Toronto. This game was thrilling and many fans were excited to see the Dodgers put up a great defense against the Blue Jays after a two loss streak in Los Angeles. With a final score of 3-1, none of the players performed home runs. However, Dodgers pitcher Yamamoto put up a stunning performance as pitcher, forcing the Blue Jays into a tie for the series, and into game seven.

Game seven had to have been the biggest toying of emotions both teams had faced in the entire series. This 11-inning game was not only the most exciting post-season game in a long time that I have ever seen, the performance from both teams was a pure work of art. The Blue Jays scored early on in the third inning, with Bichette homing, allowing Springer and Guerrero to score a point each. During the eighth inning, Muncy homered for the Dodgers, followed by Rojas in the ninth inning. The score by Rojas forced the Blue Jays into an uncomfortable 10th and 11th inning. The Dodgers nearly losing control during inning 9 and 10, the score remained tied until Smith’s home run in the 11th inning. Since the Dodgers were the top of the play, the Blue Jays had the chance to make the point back. However, Yamamoto proved to the Blue Jays that losing was simply not an option for him and the Dodgers, making the winning pitch, grounding Kirk and outing Barger for a final score of 5-4.

This emotional rollercoaster of a World Series proved once again that Los Angeles is on top of the competition. After Kendrick Lamar won his battle against Drake, the Dodgers came back to stick it to Toronto, and show them who’s boss. Yet, there is a lot to be said about the Blue Jays and their incredibly talented team. Blue Jays definitely deserve strong support, and I look forward to seeing their next season play in 2026. In the meantime, Dodgers are once again champions, being back-to-back winners. Today, I am not only proud to be an Angeleno, but a Dodgers fan. I now hope to see the Dodgers make this a triple next year, but we shall see what the future holds for the boys in white and blue.
