SGA 2025 Senate elections and updates

This past week, the Student Government Association (SGA) held its Senator elections. I held the privilege of serving as a member of the Senate Election Committee (SEC) alongside SGA President Yailine Cano, Executive Vice President (EVP) Erick Silva, Jason Zheng, and Associate Vice President (AVP) Sai Ayush. With just under 120 votes submitted for the highest voted Senator-elect, SGA expects to have a full Senate fairly early in the Senate term, with two fourth-year seats, one fifth-year seat, and one graduate seat open, all of which were reallocated as general body senators due to a lack of senators in those population groups. This year’s senators are listed below, representing a variety of student populations on campus.

Athletes – Jack Niekrasz

Greek Council – Abel Castilla

College of Computing – Rutam Chogule

Lewis College of Science/Letters – Jade Hutchinson

Armour College of Engineering- Tengis Munkhbat

Stuart School of Business – Jes John Tetedje

College of Architecture – Brianna Sorrillo

First Year – Aldo Garcia and Syed Qadri

Second Year – Abigail DiModica and Kyle Ochotorena

Third Year – Shree Meher and Wynter Brown

Graduate – Oluwatsosin Ayodele and Luis Gomez

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – Ashanti Bunton and Harold Ho

General Body – Roberto Cassano, Delwin Manjali, Nikunji Menghani, Ian Huskins, Abdiel Ovalle, Danasha McCory, Matthew Pieczonka, Kenichi Parkhurst, Huma Ughratdar

In addition to senate elections, we also got updates from SGA, with President Cano announcing the full completion of all Finance Board hearings, a collaboration with Leadership Academy and Career Services, EVP Vara announcing an upcoming social hour and collaboration with the Office of Student Life, and AVP Flores announcing a “Where’s Talon” competition, as well as upcoming tabling sessions to engage with the student body. In this exciting and very full SGA Senate, I look forward to seeing all the progress that can be made by SGA this coming year. Good luck to SGA and good luck to the new Senators!!
